About JimLuby.com

Hello and thank you again for visiting this website.  My goal in establishing this website was twofold:  1) To create a place where you can access lots of great information about Chicagoland real estate and 2) To begin writing (or blogging) about important topics related to real estate – trends, opportunities, market conditions, regulations, and more.  Over time I will be adding more and more content to JimLuby.com.  This will be a “living” site, instead of the typical static real estate sites you often see.  Please take time to visit my blog page, which I will be updating most often.  Feel free to comment or provide feedback on any of these blog topics.  I want this to be a discussion, and I look forward to your participation!

About Jim Luby

Hmmmm…what would you like to know about me.  I’ll begin with the basics.  I’ve been in the Chicago area for most of my life.  While I’m not technically a native (since I was born in Kansas City), I have been here since I was seven years old.  I call Chicago my home.   After finishing school – Loyola Academy for High School and the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign for college – I got a job working for a small information technology consulting company.  While the consulting gig was great in many ways, it just wasn’t my cup of tea.  I left that behind and jumped into real estate in 2000.

Real Estate has been fun.  Over the course of the past 10 years, I’ve worked closely with all types of clients:  homeowners, commercial property owners, high rise condominium developers, home builders, apartment building owners, property managers, attorneys, lenders, etc.  I experienced a boom market from 2000 through 2007.  And more recently I’ve experienced the bear market of the past few years.  The real estate landscape has changed, but my job remains the same:  to help clients buy and sell properties; to help clients transact; to guide them through the process.

I live in Lincoln Square, a fabulous neighborhood on Chicago’s North side.  Chicago is rich with neighborhoods that each have their own little culture within the Big City.  Lincoln Square is one of my favorites.  Obviously I’m biased.  My wife and I found a nice spot to start our family, and we now have three very active kids - all boys.  Besides being a Dad and my real estate career, my main extracurricular is playing ice hockey (interested?  check out Johnny’s Ice House).  I used to play other sports too, but these days with kids and more limited time, I must choose my activities wisely.

If you have questions about real estate in the Chicagoland area, please give me a call.  If it’s an area I do not serve, then I can at least point you in the right direction.  I’d like to hear from you, and I will be happy to share whatever knowledge I can.
